Tried to look some of you guys up last night, but didn't see anything definative. I am one of the few that still has my name of "ikenlob". I know a ton of my buddies had to modify or change their name.
Two guys called EA. One was able to get his old name back. Anything that you registered an EA account with is "yours" and is never issued again. The other guy had never used his EA account name in games before and now his "game" name is taken by someone else.

PS. I know I'm not a card carrying member, so if you don't "platoon" me I won't take it in any negative way. See you on the battlefield!
Platoon doesn't really do anything to be honest other than compare stats.

Once I actually get the game, I should show up as nex_pistol, since I already have that registered with EA, and used it in the beta.
So, it's official: I am nex_pistol in BF3. Whee. I have sent you guys friend requests and submitted an application to the KC group.
Sweet, we'll have to play some MP and Co-op soon to get you up to speed.
If Co-op works for me, that would be great. So far, the SP game hangs after the first mission on the train when the guy points the gun in your face and asks "are you alone?" or whatever. I tried it a few times and it kept happening. Apparently other people are having that problem, but I didn't see any official response to it.
Also, I tried some MP (not even 3 full rounds), and the game hung after the second one, so hopefully that won't be too common.
Anyway, when the game is working, it's pretty sweet, and seems to run really well for me, so I'm pretty happy about that. I hope they fix the issue with the game hanging up though. I'm one of those few, odd people who actually intend to play the SP game as well as the Co-op and MP.

I heard this elf is using some "outdated" computer parts from a previous computer. It will probably run CoD4 at 30 fps at best.

Oryx and Crake My laptop with integrated graphics can run CoD4 better than that (with yitch3 / very low settings), so you'll be fine with a meager GTX 560 or something. Your processor is going to be a lot better as well. My q6600 is feeling pretty dated as this point, but it runs BF3.
