So the DLC is out and I wasn't ready. Now I'm looking at a 3 Gb download over my crappy DSL. Looks like it will be two hours before I can play. Beware...
What's your download speed again? 250 KB/s or so? That stinks. One thing I can say about our DSL with Verizon is it was reliable. There was the usual trouble during lightning storms losing connection (my friend on Runescape lost a lot of money through those sorts of disconnections), but for several years it was constantly up. There was one period of a couple months where we had trouble, but a third visit led to a bad wire being replaced outside. Everything was great after that!
We had 768 / 200 for a while. We then were upgraded to 1.5 or whatever. We would have had 3.0, but we were too far from the station. That's the other thing: we were at the end of the 16-17,000 feet recommended limit for DSL for connectivity. We were over 17,000 and only had trouble that one time due to a bad wire. Then we got Verizon FiOS in 2009, and it's been great =D.
Anyway, I don't really have to worry about downloads. I actually like reinstalling Windows for the enjoyment of multiple games concurrently downloading from Steam.
Enjoy your Call of Duty DLC ;)
We have 3MB service and occasionally movies will stream at close to that, but downloading files never gets much above 400kb. I was told they were going to upgrade our service a while back and they have been out here all spring running new lines and equipment. Still, when I called last week it was not an option.
So I finally got in around 12:15 last night and played through a rotation on one server. With two to five players, rounds lasted about ten minutes. I was hoping for a true "high rise" experience as marketed. I didn't realize they only meant the top two floors...
COD it is...
Gun Master mode is fun. Everyone starts with pistols and get a new gun for x amount of kills. (Get demoted to lower gun if you get knifed.)
The new maps are fine and much better than the conquest versions of Metro, Seine, Damavund, and Bazaar with the appropriate number of players.
They may be installing new lines and equipment, but they have to test everything before they offer a new servicenor upgrade. I'm pretty sure they had the FiOS lines in our neighborhood several months before they announced it was available for testing reasons. It's in the interest of companies to get your money, but they don't want to lose customers because they didn't test their service for reliability first.
By the way, close quarters is pretty good.
Indeed, if only the original maps had as much effort put into them. Feeling pretty excited about the later DLC's if they're this high quality.
Redtide.... Is excited about.... A game... He thinks it's... High quality? :O
I just saw a pig fly, btw.
You got me. It's all just propaganda to get you to buy premium and be cool like us. JOIN US *spooky ghost noises
Done did that. CQB is alright... I did get the vehicle unlocks too for buying premium. That's kinda nice.
Gun game is fun! :)
I bought Premium but still haven't gotten a chance to try it out. I'm hoping to be on sometime later this week.
You'll really like Close Quarters. It is going to be easier to run than the 64 man Conquest-lagfest servers, too.
